June 2007
The past week me, Bobby and fourteen others, ten teens and four adults drove two passenger vans to New Orleans, LA for our mission trip. EB07 was it’s name. The name came from where we were lodged for the week. We stayed in an old home in a historic district on the east bank (EB) of the Mississippi River called Algiers Point.
We joined up with Steve and Bronwen Niles and their staff who are YWAM missionaries to New Orleans. They have been there for over seventeen years. I was inspired by Steve and his passion for lost people. We prayed with him on Bourbon Street and asked God to send His Spirit where ever we went during our week there. I watched him as I would rise early for a spot on the wide green porch to spend time with the Lord. He roamed up and down the street greeting neighbors good morning and making small talk while sipping his morning coffee. He has a desire to see people come to the light of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ.
Steve’s wife, Bronwen is a woman who is filled with the Spirit of the Lord. She has a heart for the little children who live in the projects on the east bank. She also keeps things in order down there.
John and Sarah are his staff members. Sarah was kind and helpful on the job site. John has the coolest facial hair I’ve seen in a long time. He also plays a mean guitar. John and I had an easy connection in that he and I are both sons of Baptist preachers and were home schooled.
I thank the Lord for refreshing in me the desire to have Him on my lips every day.
“Oh Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall show forth Your praise.” Psalm 51:15
