You are rich, live like it!

I would like to think that if I instantly became rich or over time for that matter, I would still be a cool person. I would hope that I would still remember those who were my friends while I was not rich. I also know that my life would change if I were to become wealthy. Because I’m not talking just a little rich, but I’m talking about mega wealthy. I mean why not, right? If you’re going to dream why dream little? So, let’s say I pass up Bill Gates as the person with the most money. I mean the guy is so wealthy he can’t even give money away as fast as he gets it. He’s so wealthy that his full-time job is figuring out how to give his money away. His property taxes for one year are more than I will ever pay on my mortgage. His dinning room is bigger than my whole house.

If I passed up Bill Gates in total wealth, even though I wouldn’t want to forget where I came from and who I came from I can guarantee you that it would change my lifestyle. I would do things like buy a new vehicle for my wife and family to drive around. Probably a Black Yukon Denali blacked out with black rims and black-walls. I would probably buy a new house, maybe not extravagant but a newer one than I have now with some amenities that I me and my wife would like to have. I might buy myself a Yukon too. I would most likely spend some money on some new clothes. I would use some of my wealth on mine and my families hobbies. I would use some cash to do some traveling that I have always dreamed of with my family. I would spend money on other people; relatives and friends. I would give money away to missionaries that struggle with just enough money to cover expenses. On and on it would go the ways I can think of that I would spend my new found wealth.

There is no doubt about it. If I were rich my life would change because of it.

Those of us who know Jesus are rich beyond what we can even begin to imagine in our human minds. Ephesians 1 tells us that God has ”blessed us richly”, and “lavished” blessings all over us. He has “chosen us, forgiven us, predestined us, sealed us with the Holy Spirit…”  It’s like the moment we accepted Jesus as our Savior we became the richest person in the world! God gave us all of these riches through Jesus Christ and His death on the cross for us. There is no way we could get access to all the riches of God if it wasn’t for Jesus. The first part Ephesians mentions “in Christ” or “in Him” or “through Jesus Christ” 13 times in 11 verses. It is evident that Paul is saying something very simple but very powerful here by his repetition.

We are very rich and it’s all because of Jesus Christ!

If you have not given your life to Jesus than you are missing out on spiritual riches like you can’t even imagine.
