Weeza KSHGB

My little brother Wesley turned 17 years old last week. When he was little we called him Weezer. He has always been a loving, affectionate, generous guy. I love him very much. The Lord has given him a message to share. He calls himself Weeza, it’s a bit of a pen-name I guess. He even has a tag-line KSHGB which is an acronym for “Keep Shinin’ His Glory Bright”. That is Wesley’s desire. He wants to live out Matthew 5:16 as an example to the world. He is creatively writing lyrics centered on Jesus Christ in the Hip-Hop genre. Here is one of his newest. You can follow him on Youtube, Facebook and Twitter.

Do you feel the difference when you start your day right compared to when you don’t?

One element of starting my day right is caffeine. If I don’t have a stout cup of home-roasted coffee brewed by the pour-over method in a ceramic mug by 9am I will get a head ache, I’ll be grumpy and I will not be productive. Some of you may know what I am talking about.

I came across a helpful acronym from John Piper. It refers to four scriptures in the Psalms. I have chosen to make these four scripture verses a daily prayer exercise. It’s like caffeine for my spirit.

I – “Incline my heart to your testimonies and not to selfish gain.” Psalm 119:36

O – “Open my eyes, that I may behold wonderous things from your law.” Psalm 119:18

U – “Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; Unite my heart to fear your name.” Psalm 86:11

S – “Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.” Psalm 90:14

These are powerful and true thoughts from a man who does’t know that “something” or “karma” or “gut” that he talks about. The Something that connects the dots of life that we look back on is God. Steve Jobs is stating clearly and powerfully the case for a Sovereign God. We would do well to understand these thoughts from a Christ-focused perspective!
